August 28, 2010 Providence Invitational Results

The Mauldin Girls Cross Country team opened their season at the Providence Invitational in Charlotte Saturday. The girls team finished 11th of 23 teams in a competitive field. Brittany Williams led the team with a 19:47. Brittany finished strong passing many runners in her last mile. Newcomer Frazier Bean ran an awesome first race finishing 2nd for the team running a 21:28. Junior Sarah Hetzel set a new pr (21:35). Sarah knocked more than 3 minutes off her time from this race last year. Lauren Bennett was next running 22:22. Olivia Baddley, also a newcomer, rounded out the top 5 with a 22:33. Rounding out the top 7 were Hannah Hetzel (22:35) and Rachel Neiling (22:53). Hannah dropped more than a minute off her time from last year.

Cheyenne Galli (22:43) led the team in the Junior Varsity race setting a new pr. Cheyenne slashed almost 2 minutes off last year's time. Cheyenne's time placed her in contention for a varsity spot. 8th grader Sarah Lynch (23:39) was 2nd in for the team followed by Alex Dawson (24:27) and Sarah Stafford (24:42). Selina Brown (24:53) was the 5th scorer. Selina took 4:19 off last year's time. Lauren Rutledge (25:00) and Lauren Fox (25:28) rounded out thie top 7. Also running were Elli Kyriacou, Jenn Fraser, Megan McCullough, Bridget Walsh, Ashley Stone, Alex Corn, Tyla Hovell, Megan Dunn, Emma Haney, Jessica Starr, Hannah Brown and Samantha Snider. The girls next outing will be Wednesday, September 2nd at Christ Church. Come out and support the Lady Mavs!
