Lady Mavs Tennis open the season with a 6-0 win again TL Hanna!!
The Lady Mavs Tennis team had a great win against TL Hanna with out dropping a set. Scores are as follows:

LADY MAVS TENNIS WINS THE FURMAN INVITE BEATING CHRIST CHURCH FOR THE TITLE!
The Lady Mavs edged out Christ Church this weekend to win the Furman Invite for the second year in a row. Ansley Speaks, Haley Elliott, Lexi Stewart and Alex Patton won their flights. Molly Walsh won two out of three matches, losing a close match in a tie break to the winner of her flight. Number 1 doubles team Haley Behal and Katelyn Hegarty won 2 out of three matches while Number 2 team Morgan Tracey and Hannah Kahng also won 2 out of 3 matches. Scores are as follows:
Ansley Speaks: 6-3, 6-1; 6-4,6-1; 6-2, 6-0. Haley Elliott: 6-2, 6-0; 6-0, 6-3; 6-3, 6-1. Lexi Stewart: 6-2,6-1; 6-0,4-6, (10-6); 6-2,6-2. Alex Patton: 6-1, 6-1; 7-5,7-5; 4-6, 6-0 (10-5). Molly Walsh: 6-0, 6-0; 2-6,6-4 (10-2) (Loss); 8-0. #1 doubles Haley/Katelyn: 6-3, 6-0; 6-1,6-0; 6-0, 0-6, (10-6) Loss. #2 Doubles Morgan/Hannah: 4-6, 1-6 (loss); 6-0, 6-1; 8-2. Katie Beth Byram and Jordan Paul played #1 doubles in the JV tournament. That tournament was interuppted due to rain.

The girls had their first scrimmage of the season on Tuesday against Christ Church. Ansley, Haley and Lex won their matches 8-5, 8-3 and 8-4, respectively. Alex lost a tough one 4-8, while Molly lost a tight match in a tie-break, 7-8 (5-7). Ansley and Haley came through with a doubles win 8-2, while Katelyn and Hannah lost 4-8. However, Haley B. and Morgan didn't get to finish their match. Good job girls!
The Girls play this Friday and Saturday (August 20 and 21) at the Furman Invitational. Come out to cheer them on. Go Mavs!
